Riu Palace Aquarelle Wedding, Jamaica | Mikala + Karlo
It goes without saying that I love destination weddings. I get to photograph people in completely different landscapes, and I also get to call myself a “destination wedding photographer,” which feels very official. I joke, but really it’s a perk to this job I truly don’t take for granted. When couples trust me enough to travel with the and all their most important people to document their wedding.
Mikala and Karlo were by far one of my top favourite couples. They were so incredibly welcoming and genuine people. Photographing them at Riu Palace Aquarelle in Jamaica was awesome, and the photos that we created were such a perfect reflection of the day. We had sun for the first look, gale force winds for portraits on the beach, followed by sun again then a rainbow and rain for the ceremony. At the end of the day, all this changing weather made for a super unique final gallery with lots of variation.
Even better, Mikala’s cousin hired me for their wedding in Mexico after and her best friend reached out too. Truly one of the nicest feelings as a wedding photographer!
