Grande Palladium Wedding, Dominican Republic | Marilee + Ben

This was my third time photographing a wedding in the Dominican Republic, but the first one where I brought my family with me. On the wedding day, the bride’s room was literally right down the hallway from mine, which made the morning feel super relaxed.

I travelled with a videographer, and together we documented Marilee and Ben saying their vows on the beach with the turquoise ocean behind them. Their wedding had originally been planned a year earlier but was postponed because of covid, so by the time the day finally arrived, everyone was more than ready to celebrate.

These two are huge travellers, so a destination wedding felt completely fitting for them. After dinner, the party moved onto the beach, where I ended up standing on chairs trying to photograph the dance floor chaos from above. At one point my camera slipped off my strap and smashed onto the concrete, a truly horrifying moment - but thankfully my backup gear was close by in my room.

A couple days later, I also photographed their boat excursion and a “trash the dress” session in the ocean, which was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable week.

And.. we all got covid on the plane home.
