Destination WEdding Photographer

Based in Ontario, Photographing Weddings in the Caribbean & Beyond

A bride and groom celebrating their wedding indoors; the bride is holding a bouquet of white roses and raising one arm, while the groom is smiling and holding the bride's hand.

Photography that covers the whole experience.

For Canadian couples planning a destination wedding at an all-inclusive Caribbean resort who want a photographer they can trust over whoever the resort provides, I travel from Toronto to photograph the full day with true to life images.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding photographer than Shelley! From the very beginning, her kindness, patience, and genuine friendliness made us feel so comfortable. She took the time to truly get to know us and our vision, and her communication was flawless every step of the way. She even traveled all the way to Jamaica to capture our special day, which meant so much to us. Her talent and creativity are beyond impressive, and she made every moment feel effortless and fun. All of our guests loved her to the point where one couple plans on hiring her for their wedding! On top of everything, the photos are absolutely stunning.

Resort photographers are fine… but they’re assigned, maybe less experienced and usually only cover a couple hours.

When couples bring me, they get:

  • Someone they’ve already met and trust

  • Full-day coverage instead of a short package

  • A consistent style across engagement photos, wedding, and albums

  • Someone focused on their story, not some rando doing the same routine for every wedding.

Why Bring Your Own Photographer?

I’m Shelley - Your destination photographer

I may get a little sunburned, but it’s all joy when I’m at a resort shooting your wedding.

I travel with you and sometimes bring my little family, but I’m not there to take over your time or pull you away from it. I’m there to quietly do my job, documenting your day with a mix of candid moments and relaxed, natural portraits. I’m also scouting locations from the moment I arrive, so I have a photo plan and you don’t have to even think about it.

I’m easy to be around and a bit funny, but I take this seriously - because this isn’t just a trip. It’s your wedding.

My destination wedding photography packages are designed for couples planning weddings in Jamaica, Mexico, and other travel locations who want relaxed, documentary-style coverage without feeling over-posed all day.

Where I’ve been for weddings: Jamaica, Dominican Republic

Where I am going: Mexico

destination wedding photography package

Unlimited coverage - $ 4600.

That amount includes both my photography coverage and travel. From the total, I book my flights and accommodations for the trip (unless you have a travel agent).

This keeps things simple. You’re working with one clear number rather than managing separate travel costs.

Mini Sessions for Guests

If I’m already traveling for your wedding, your friends and family can book optional mini sessions during the trip too.

These are short portrait sessions (about 20–25 minutes) for couples, families, or anyone who wants a few really nice photos that aren’t from a phone.

I create a private booking page with time slots, and you can simply share the link with your guests. If they’re interested, they can book directly.

Your Questions, Answered

  • Sometimes, yes. I’ve brought my husband and daughter along to a couple of destination weddings. Not just because it’s fun for us as a family, but because it often works well logistically too. It also means no one has to look over at me eating fries alone by the pool and think, “Oh no… the photographer is all by herself.” I’m completely happy either way. On wedding days, they do their own thing while I’m fully focused on your wedding.

  • Yes, you certainly don’t need more on your plate. Take care of it all. Either on my own or through your travel agent.

  • Yes. I bring a laptop and external hard drive. I back up the backup.

Your photos exist in multiple places before I ever get on a plane home. I shoot on dual memory cards during the wedding day, then create additional backups afterward because the idea of travelling with only one copy of your wedding photos is absolutely not happening.

  • The earlier, the better - especially for destination weddings. Since couples usually book me for an entire travel week rather than just a single day, I can only take on a limited number of destination weddings each year.

Some couples book nearly two years ahead, while others reach out much closer to the wedding date. If your plans are coming together quickly, it’s still always worth asking about availability..

  • Absolutely. Many destination weddings turn into a full wedding week experience, and I’m available for things like welcome dinners, beach parties, excursions, or casual evening coverage if you’d like those moments documented too.

  • The change in environment wakes up a whole different creative part of my brain. New light, new landscapes, different colours, different energy - it pushes me creatively in the best way.

I love Ontario, but it’s also nice to break away from golf courses and maple trees once in a while.

  • A heavy, black, expensive one.

More importantly, I bring backup cameras, backup lenses, backup memory cards, and batteries.

A 360° memory of your wedding day.

I run a unique behind-the-scenes setup while I photograph your wedding. A small 360° camera captures everything happening around me during the day while I’m working.

That means you’ll receive fun candid video clips from throughout the day, along with the photos.

“I want to thank you for joining us to capture our destination wedding! Marilee and I really appreciated your professionalism, flexibility and your ability to work with our big family through the chaos of the events to capture all the things! It was really lovely to have you there and you made the whole process easy for us. Above all we really hope you were able to enjoy the rest of week down south and get away from everything for a bit just as much as we did!

Thank you again for helping to make our big day even more special.”
